Join us for our Winter Dinner with guest speaker Colin Pownall.
Colin had a difficult start to life, at 10 years old his parents put him into a children’s home where he spent the rest of his childhood. Then at 16 Colin bought his first motor bike and started hanging around with a “bike gang”. He spent 8 years with “back patch” clubs.

Then at 21 Colin ended up in a mental hospital, and then at 24 he went into a maximum-security jail. Colin’s life was full of hatred, bitterness and anger fuelled by alcohol and drug addiction.
But at 34 Colin walked into a church service, the preacher was talking about heaven and hell. He knew with all the bad things he’d done that he was heading to hell. He had no fear though because he believed that there everyone rode big bikes, the sun always shone, there was booze and drugs. The preacher spoke about hell a place where there was no love, no joy and no peace. The preacher was describing was what Colin had already been living, at that point he knew in couldn’t end up in a place like that forever! For the first time in his life Colin was really scared.
At the end of the meeting the preacher explained that Jesus can save us from hell, and asked if anyone wanted to receive Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
Colin did, and was invited to say a prayer. The response from Jesus was immediate. As he felt God’s love he began crying – “I knew Jesus had answered me.” Colin’s alcohol and drug addiction disappeared almost immediately.
“I was able to love for the first time in my life.”
This is only the beginning of the story of the remarkable life Jesus has given Colin, filled with love and full of excitement. It is incredible that he can now tell people, everywhere, about Jesus.
