Dr Isaac Ohonba – How God works alongside Modern Medicine

Based in Cardiff.

Dr Isaac Ohonba is a medical doctor and specialty doctor in psychiatry. Originally trained in Nigeria, Isaac grew up in a Christian home, attending church regularly and understanding the language of faith. However, he did this without a personal relationship with God.

For many years, Christianity was familiar but not real or transformational.

Successful Career but an Empty Life

As a young doctor running a private hospital in Nigeria, Isaac’s life was outwardly successful but inwardly unsettled. His lifestyle was loose and filled with parties, drinking and relationships. Practices he now openly acknowledges were far from God’s best for him. Though part of him knew something wasn’t right, he felt powerless to change.

Friends who were committed Christians had spoken to him about faith for years.

He resisted. He avoided. He delayed.

Finding God Loves You Just the Way You Are

Until one defining moment changed everything.

When challenged about his need for change, Isaac made a list of the habits and areas of his life he knew were wrong. The areas that he wanted to change and had struggled with. He asked his Christian friends to tell him how to fix himself before coming to God.

Their response was simple but life-altering:

“God doesn’t expect you to change yourself before coming to Him. Come just as you are.”

In that instant, Isaac realised that transformation was not about self-effort but surrender. Instead of trying to clean up his life first, he yielded to Christ as he was.

From that day forward, everything changed.

The Transforming Power of Prayer

The habits that had once controlled him stopped. His hospital practice was transformed, he saw dramatic changes in the way he wanted to approach patients. Isaac established a prayer room and began praying with patients. Alongside medical treatment, he saw remarkable recoveries! Cases where conditions had resisted treatment, improved dramatically after prayer. He witnessed lives changed not only physically, but spiritually and emotionally.

As a Doctor Isaac speaks with a combination of medical credibility and spiritual conviction. He understands the human mind, human weakness, and the deep need for grace. He shares honestly about deliverance from destructive patterns, the power of prayer, and the freedom that comes through relationship with Jesus Christ.

His testimony is not theoretical. It is lived.

Dr Isaac Ohonba a testimony that is:

  • A powerful story of personal transformation
  • Insight how God can work alongside medicine
  • Real-life examples of prayer impacting patients
  • A clear, compassionate Gospel message
  • A heart to see men set free and filled with the Holy Spirit

Isaac’s life demonstrates a simple but profound truth:

You don’t have to fix yourself before coming to God. You come as you are and He does the transforming.
