Dick Beath is a pilot and has flown to SE Poland in support of Ukraine, taking specialist medical and military supplies.
Dick joined the Army as a Trooper in the Royal Tank Regiment. After some hard training and time at Sandhurst, he found himself an officer in charge of 30 Light Infantry soldiers in the thick of a vicious shooting war in Belfast, just after Bloody Sunday.
Although not brought up a Christian, Dick experienced his first contact with God after a three-sided ambush in which one of his soldiers was shot and a civilian onlooker killed. After two more dangerous operational tours, Dick went to University where his spiritual questions were, astoundingly, answered. As a sportsman, Dick has won a gold medal in the Commonwealth games in 2022 and represented Great Britain in the World Championships in October 2023. Dick retrained as an accountant and now works as CFO of the American Museum in Bath. He lives with Cherry, who is a former Mayor and Chairman of Bath Council, on Combe Down and has two sons.
