Romania & Serbia Outreach Mission
Through the prayers and generosity of our members and supporters, Full Gospel Businessmen UK & Ireland was privileged to contribute towards an Christian outreach mission to Romania and Serbia.
During the trip, the team partnered with local churches, prisons and community groups to share the Gospel, pray for people and encourage believers.
Colin Pownall shares his personal reflections on what God did during this remarkable mission.
Colin's Mission Report
Dear friends
Colin Wilson, John Rowley and myself (Colin Pownall) have just returned from a 10 day trip to Romania and Serbia and would like to report on events there.
In just 10 days we spoke in 5 prisons, 3 church’s, 2 Full Gospel Businessmen’s dinners, as well as speaking on a Christian radio station. An FGB Chapter in Oradea was also reopened with a new Chapter President!
To say that the program was hectic is an understatement, we were all exhausted but definately exhilarated at the end.
Prison Ministry
During our visits to the 5 prisons, we lost count of the number of prisoners who gave their lives to Christ. But the estimate was over 150 prisoners. These were genuine Christian conversions, with many of these prisoners being brought to tears.
In all the prisons we were encouraged to return, with the promise that they would bring more inmates to listen next time.
We also visited a young offenders institute. All that attended the meeting gave their hearts to Christ, but this was only the beginning!
Then we started the prayer ministry. One person came forward for healing and he was instantly ‘slain in the Spirit’. Then others started coming forward. We continued to pray and the floor was strewn with young men. Such was the blessing that some inmates went out dragging their friends into the meeting, adding even more bodies to the floor.
Even one of our folk on the mission team joined the floor group.
The officer in charge went into panic mode as all around him young men laid there peacefully. Then his own tears started. He stood there, he wept and wept in front of all the inmates in his charge.
God is alive.
Christian Ministry - Churches & Christian Radio
We were part of 3 Christian meeting and the 3 churches were all different.
The first was a Charismatic Evangelical church, as was the second. Signs and wonders followed the preaching of Gods word, in both places. Young people were Saved becoming Christians and many others physically healed during the prayer ministry time.
The last church however, was a traditional Baptist church a very different atmosphere from what we’d been experiencing. I preached the Gospel but it was so hard, like preaching to the wall. However the Romanian Pastor came over at the end and embraced me. He thanked me for preaching a message that he didn’t have the courage to preach himself. He is a Holy Spirit filled man of God and knows God has put him in that place for a reason.
The pastor was so enthusiastic and it was through this pastor that the 3 of us were asked to speak on Christian radio. We had 30 minutes each to share, and although we would have liked longer, it was good.
Full Gospel Businessmen Dinners
That leaves us with only the 2 dinners to talk about.
The men who organised and led the meetings were from the old FGBMFI in Romania. Even though they were not old men. The meetings therefore, were all under the FGBMFI banner.
The first dinner was in Arad. Twenty people were present, and we ate a delicious cooked dinner. The 3 of us then in turn shared our testimonies.
When we offered ministry time at the end 2 people came forward for Salvation. Then many came forward who wanted prayer for healing.
When the meeting officially ended, no one wanted to leave. The ministry continued around the tables as local FGBMFI men continued to pray for others.
The second ‘dinner’ was in Oradea with 26 present, and all we had was a piece of cake and a bottle of pop.
At least half of those in attendance were young students from the University. When the ministry time started and the altar call came, it was 5 of these young people that came forward. The young people gave their hearts to Jesus Christ and one young person became the new president of the Chapter!
The fact that we had 2 FGBMFI meetings, is a 100% increase on our May trip.
I find it amazingly wonderful that the men who used to be so active in the ministry, still want to be involved. Do I think there will be more meetings – YES. However, only when and if I or others go over to encourage and pay.
Final Thoughts
.All in all it was a great trip!
I can’t thank John and Colin enough for their support and encouragement.
Also, FGB UK & Ireland who helped with the funding, as well as those who stayed at home and prayed. They were equal partners in this outreach and need acknowledging.
I hope this report encourages others to get involved in this ministry. The fields are ripe unto harvest.
